| Questions about LED-lights |
Why do I need an additional Mini-OP-light?With the use of conventional OP-lightning shadows appear. Merely a pure white light (with viewing direction (coaxial sight) can guarantee a shadow free working dimension and a clear contrast e.g. from blood and tissue. A clear advantage is seen when working in the back of the oral cavity, in the micro surgery and while working with loupes. As a rule, loupes absorb light therefore this makes the application of an additional light even more important. The precise lighting of the working area allows more working comfort since the frequent movement of the hand in order to adjust the OP-light is no longer necessary. top |
What is LED?LED = Light Emitting Diode |
Why is white light so important? In medicine, colour differences must be clearly identifiable, such as blood and tissue. This is possible with an 5500 Grd.K pure white LED light, for example, the Merident DeLight™ or the DCI HighLight top |
Is it possible to process composite materials while using LED light?Composite materials, according to manufacturers harden at a range wavelength from 420 - 580nm. But as our LED lights produce a full spectrum of light, this area is of minor concern. Therefore many customary composite materials can be easily handled, without additional light filter. |
What are the differences between the Merident DeLight vs.DCI- HighLight™ and the DCI LED Power Spotlight? The Merident Delight ™ has been developed especially for the Merident-Ultralight™ loupes. It is ultra light (only 6g), delicately built and can be fastened simply with a special adaptor to the Merident-UltraLight™ loupes, however it is compatible only with some other loupe systems. The Merident Delight ™ is equipped with a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery pack and has approx.10 hrs. of consistant operation and offers a brightness of approx. 50,000 Lux (with 35cm of working distance) top |
What is a Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) battery pack?A Li-Ion battery pack is a rechargeable battery pack without a memory effect. These are used, for example in mobile phones. top |
Is the power-cell rechargeable?Yes. All of our mobile Mini-OP-lights are powered by rechargeable LI-Ion battery packs. These can be recharged within a short period of time in any conventional socket with the power supply cable, which is supplied with the product top |

| FAQ about the Merident-UltraLight™ loupes |
Can I adapt the loupe to my existing working glasses?Yes, if:
|
Do the loupe glasses work with Bi-focal?Yes, our loupe generally function with every glass type and almost all vision defects. Our optician can determine which glass type is suitable for you. Even those with squints and prismatic corrections can achieve perfection. Our recommendation: Test our system after personal adaptation by our optician. See also question 6a. top |
Which magnification is right for me- 2.3-, 2.5- or 3.2x ?For the everyday dental-medical work the 2,3x or 2.5x magnification is ideal. It allows for a wide sphere of activity and guarantees pleasant working conditions. If you require a greater magnification? we recommend a 3.2x magnification(Endo,micro-surg). Attention: The higher the magnification the smaller is the field of vision! Our recommendation: Test all systems! top |
What are the advantages of Flip-Up-Loupes versus to a TTL-Loupe?The Flip-Up-Function allows the doctor in attendance to see through his working glasses and work 1:1 without having to change glasses. This is not possible with the TTL-Loupe (through the lens) since the magnification is integrated in the glass or glued on. If the dioptre (from the doctor in attendance) changes, it is easier and cheaper to go to an optician and change the glass in the existing working glasses, rather than sending the loupe glasses back to the manufacture to have completely new optics installed and get charged. top |
How can the working distance be changed? With the Merident-UltraLight™ loupe the working distance is fully adjustable from approx. 30-55cm. This is not possible with other systems. The infinite adjustability is important to adapt to the individual working distance of the attendant or useful, if the attendant often changes between sitting and standing. Thus the loupe adapts itself to the attendant and not vice versa. Resulting in a more pleasant and ergonomic posture. top |
What must be taken into consideration with degeneration of the eye due to old age?The Merident-Loupe is optically seen a pure enlargement which cannot compensate for defective vision. First of all the optician of your choice should put suitable correction glasses into your working glasses. Often, the two eyes have a different strength of vision or astigmatism is present. Should a loupe be used without correction to the working glasses the best possible results cannot be achieved and the eyes will become tired and overstrained, resulting in a tired attendant. top |
Can wearing loupes cause eye damage? We have put this question to some opticians who all gave the same answer: "A magnifying glass is a pure enlargement which has no negative effect on the eye." Once you have started working with the loupe glasses you cannot and will not want to do without the big picture it offers. By wearing an efficient, ergonomically and well fitting loupe, one not only obtains a brilliant picture, but the posture of the doctor in attendance can also be significantly improved. top |
Can I use as "a sitting giant" the Merident-UltraLigh™ loupe? Can I treat while standing?Yes. We offer a 3.2x loupe with extendet working distance (40-60cm). Ask for the 3.2x L top |
How can I clean and desinfect the loupe lenses? The loupe lens can be fully desinfected. It can be cleaned without difficulty, with a moist desinfectant cloth. WARNING: Never hold the lens under running water or put into an ultrasonic bath. top |
